Jiveny Blair-West is a passionate life coach and yoga teacher with over six years of experience in yoga. Over the years, Jiveny has studied a range of different yoga styles including Kundalini Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Yin Yoga and Hatha Yoga.

WHY DO YOGA?

Yoga is a powerful antidote to stress. Recent medical studies have demonstrated how yoga effectively reduces cortisol and adrenaline levels in the body. These are the principle stress hormones that make us feel irritable, anxious and overwhelmed. In addition, emotional well being has also been found to improve with regular practice as Yoga releases the feel good chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine.

Once released, the nervous system responds by lowering one’s heart rate and blood pressure, invoking a more relaxed state, leading to reductions in levels of depression, anxiety and stress. A regular yoga practice also helps to reduce the chronic muscle tension, that is built up from hours spent sitting at a desk and working in unnatural positions.

The relaxing postures and dynamic movement initiated through yoga relieve the body from fight/flight survival mode and improve the management of chronic health issues such as type II diabetes, back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, along with favourable changes in weight management, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER JIVENY:

Previously known as “the gypsetting yoga teacher”, Jiveny has been sharing her passion for yoga all over the world, teaching people of all ages and stages of strength and flexibility. 

Her current teaching schedule tends to focus on a dynamic fusion of Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Pranayama. This particular approach is aimed at bringing students back into alignment with their bodies, healing the spine through therapeutic back-being, opening the hips (an often neglected part of the body) and consciously connecting with the breath.

In addition to studying in India, Jiveny has also been mentored by world-class yoga teacher and chiropractor Dr Aaron Tselepy (founder of Bonfire Yoga, Brisbane) and Jenelle Leat (a senior Bikram teacher from Canada).
