You can tell a lot about the quality of someone’s words through their tone of their voice.

For example, those who speak with a nasal tone tends are usually communicating their ideas based on what they think in their heads (influenced by the ego) rather than what they feel in their hearts.

In contrast, when one speaks from their heart, their voice tends to take on a deeper and more resonate quality. Their words flow freely and eloquently without the disruption of “ums” and “uhs” or “likes” and “you know”.

They speak with passion and conviction; with far less false starts because they don’t need to “think” about what they are saying – they are simply stating their truth.

As a listener, you can feel it in your own heart. It inspires you and excites you. It reminds you of your own truth.

So listen carefully to those around you. Where are their words coming from, their head or their hearts?

I was fascinated to learn about the two kinds of power that penetrate our reality.

Domination is the one you are probably most familiar with – It’s the most present of the two in our current society after all. That is; power over others.

Superiority & inferiority.

Inequality…Separation.

Beneath the belief in the power of domination lies the concept of limitation; that “the more I have, the less you get”. In other words, it drives the lack mentality so entrenched in our culture through perpetuated greed.

There is another kind of power however; the power of dominion.

This kind of power celebrates power with others.  It has no hierarchical structure. It recognizes that abundance and non-suffering is the birthright of all that roam this planet, and that by claiming one’s own personal power, we by no means inhibit another’s ability to be great…

Instead we inspire them to be the best they can be.

The power of dominion is about cooperation rather than competition. If I have something you desire, all you have to is tell me, and I can tell you how to get some for yourself.

Yes, this kind of power that fosters abundance.

Laugh.

Like a child in ignorant bliss,

Curious and removed

From Humanity’s absurdities.

You know the secrets of the universe;

If you’d only look deep inside.

Ask any question.

And breathe,

Long and deep

For the universe awaits.

At your fingertips

Inviting you to play.

The Toltecs are a fascinating culture to study. Preceding the Aztecs (and often revered by the Aztecs as the wise forefathers), the Toltecs reigned in Southern Mexico around 900AD.

They were known as “artists of life” as their teachings were ultimately directed towards attaining personal freedom and happiness through self-awareness, intent and conscious choice.

They taught their students to explore themselves fearlessly, to know and accept themselves and to author their own life. In two words they taught “Self Actualization”.

Their philosophy is based on two key concepts:

The first is to take responsibility for all of ones experiences in life.

Many of us tend to view (consciously or not) responsibility in a negative light – that we are “at fault” if something goes wrong, and that can be scary. However response-ability is really simply about being able to respond to life to the best of your ability. After all, you can only really be held responsible for the choices you make.

The second fundamental teaching is in realizing that we don’t really see life at all; what we actually see is our own filter system, composed of our conditioned beliefs, expectations, agreements, and assumptions.

In this way, the Toltecs viewed the universe as a complex energy system and sought to perceive things by their true energetic form, recognizing that all energy has consciousness – neither “good”/ “bad” / “positive” or “negative”. Sacred or profane; it’s all the same. Everything is neutral. With this awareness they adopted the power to influence and change their lives to serve and reflect their own divine dreams as they came to understand – and work with - the mechanism of their own filter system.
