SUBSTANCE

PEOPLE

Bindu Wiles - An inspiring creative, explorer and writer. In short: she cuts diamonds with her words.

Chris Guillebeau – The king of non-conformity. Chris is an engaging writer who shares his travel hacking tips and ideas for world domination with wit and generosity.

Dannielle LaPorte – A master of writing, who gets me feeling inspired and powerful with every post. Leading by example, she shares her thoughts on life, love and the relationship between business and Buddhism.

David Deida– THE shaman of romance. Deida is an epic speaker as he shares his wisdom on sacred sexuality. Read his books, listen to his talks, watch him speak.

Neale Donald Walsch – Though we’ve never met, I respect this man as my own sacred elder. NDW articulately shares insights into the inner workings of the universe. After all, love is all there is.

Ryan McGinley – My favourite photographer. EVER. He captures freedom and the wildness of being human with such raw beauty that leaves you wondering why we work to hide so much of our true essence.

Tom Kenyon - TK is not your typical ‘spiritual healer’ with his unlikely background in science and psychotherapy. In addition to providing incredibly effective sound healings, he is an open channel of the benevolent Hathors, providing powerful insights into this age we rein in.

BOOKS

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
The sequel to the Power of Now. Tolle captures the beauty of staying present, providing powerful insights on what we’re here for.

Ayahuasca in My Blood by Peter Gorman
A great introduction to the world of Ayahuasca.

Being Human by Martin Ball
A clear, entertaining and concise exploration of life, consciousness, the role of the ego and the possibilities entheogens might provide those interested in expanding their consciousness and attaining personal freedom through liberation from the ego.

Conversations with God (Books I, II & III) by Neale Donald Walsch

Communion with God by Neale Donald Walsch

Eating The Light of The Moon by Anita Johnston
A powerful exploration of today’s suppressed feminine, Johnston touches the soul with her eloquent use of metaphors, addressing our reluctance to really feel our feelings.

Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho

Fishers of Men by Adam Elenbaas
This is a well-written, insightful memoir which documents a man’s metamorphosis with Ayahuasca as he seeks to transcend his childhood wounds and addiction to sex, drugs and alcohol.

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn
This is a really well crafted novel exploring our society of captivity and how it came to be this way.

Marching Powder by Rusty Young
This book is based on the true story of  a British drug dealer who spent  almost five years inside a Bolivian prison. La Paz is not your regular prison however; it’s a whole ‘nother bizarre and corrupt world where inmates  pay rent for their cells.

Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth
Geneen is an amazing writer. Her ability to remind you of the beauty of life is inspiring. She reminds us that God isn’t some guy who lives in the sky, but life itself, and it is through our relationship to the most mundane things – like food – that we may come to fully understand and develop our relationship with god.

Sacred Economics by Charles Eisenstein
This is a very interesting and well thought out exploration of our current society and it’s relationship to money and ownership through the lens of economics. In addition to providing insight into how things once were and how they have come to be this way, Eisenstein offers a new way forward that would allow us reclaim the wealth that is our birthright.

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
“Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.” And this is a GOOD story. ‘Shantaram’ is a criminal on the run. After escaping a maximum security prison in Melbourne, he finds himself living in the slums of India. The book plays beautifully with the concepts of freedom and morality. It might be thick book – but you never want it to end.

The Art of Dreaming, by Carlos Casteneda

The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley

The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
A beautiful book filled with insightful spiritual awekenings as Oriah explores the poetry of love, life and the pursuit of happiness. It’s elevating and uplifting; she speaks to your soul, reminding you of the innate magic in every moment. Enjoy.

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
This book will come to you at precisely the right time to offer it’s profound perspective on your relationship to the world, other people and life itself.

The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho
One of my favourite novels ever.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translation & commentary by Sri Swami Satchidananda

The Zahir by Paulo Coelho

LYRICS & POETRY

Fever Ray - The solo project of Karen Dreijer (from The Knife) and hands down my favourite artist. Her music is deep and shamanic, reminding me of something sacred and nostalgic, making me smile with recognition as I contemplate her strange and cryptic lyrics.

Jim Morrison - The prince of poetry; Morrison has a way of expressing his own curious perspective with a sacred kind of beauty…starting with Ghost Song.

Rumi - A master wordsmith and philosopher, who’s work is still relevant and admired widely throughout the world today – the hallmark of a great writer.

PLACES

Temple of the Way of Light (Iquitos, Peru) – If you are serious about going to Peru and having an Ayahuasca experience, then this is the place to go. Nestled in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, entering the temple grounds is like entering back into your mothers womb. It’s safe, it’s love and it’s THE place for healing.
